Oh by the way, a different topic but before I forget...
The autocomplete only works with ctrl+j right? Isn't there a way of showing it automatically after writing two letters of the function or so? You really need to press the shortcut keys to trigger it?

Cheers once again.

Hmm, I guess it's being disabled for the PHP scheme. After saving, you'll need to select the web scheme again. I'll look at improving this in a future release.

Hi and thanks for your quick reply. It wasn't actually working with PHP, but then I opened a new xml, deleted the content and just pasted the PHP code I'm working on and it now works properly :)
Many thanks once again and great job

Hi there, thanks for the program first of all.

I just installed it and find a feature that auto-closes tags, like for instance typing a < and instantly getting a >. It is very useful

Sorry if this has been brought up before but couldn't find it.

Thanks.

Ah ok, now i understand what you meant by "user functions"
A project-based user function autocomplete would be awesome indeed!

I already implemented a comment line for the autocomplete feature, i thought you were looking for that.

Thanks, CoDEmanX, but I don't see how's that specific link relevant for my question.

However, I did manage to find exactly the feature I'd like to see:
http://code.google.com/p/pnotepad/issues/detail?id=208
and have 'starred' it; fingers crossed it will be implemented soon ;)

Anyway, I should have probably searched there before posting, sorry about that.

Is there such an option?

Example:

function test ( $arg = 1 ) {

}

And then to have test appear in dropdown menu when starting to type its name, and to have a tooltip upon typing 'test(', just like it is for normal php functions?

Hi... I'm running PN 2.2.0.2240 on WinXP, SP3. Autocomplete has stopped working for local tags in my C files. The Options>>General>>Autocomplete settings are to Enable AutoComplete, Include Scheme Keywords (they work), and Include Tags after 3 characters. But none of my #defines, functions, etc. come through. And the Ctrl+Space shortcut doesn't help, either. Any ideas?

Hello!
I use PN 2.0.10.1010 - dizzy, and it helps me a lot. Thanks for the suitable editor.
But since I am new user, i don't know how to use many feautures.
So, my problem is that autocomplete and hints of function's arguments works only in the current file. Is it possible to use this features with all project's files?

My AutoComplete Settings:
Enable AutoComplete, include scheme keywords, include tags, autocomplete when asked, auto-close html/xml tags.
Functions of all project's files present in tags window.
I use C language.

Hi all,

So there are two current types of autocomplete supported in 2.0.10:

1. API file based
2. Tag based for the current document

If you have API files then this currently disables tags for the current document. This will be improved in the future but not in 2.1 which is all but finished. The next stage for autocomplete is:

1. Support merging current tags and an API file
2. Support a project-wide TAGS file or per-file manually specified TAGS file

Hope that makes sense, and if you're having particular problems with any scheme do let me know.

Do you know how i can fix it?

I haven't noticed that before (probably because I usually have functions definition in library files), but it doesn't work for me either. I guess that's a bug, hopefully simon can fix it along with the issue about taking function definitions from library files :-).

Hello guys^^

I'm having troubles using autocomplete. It won't work, and i can't see how to fix it and why it can't work.
I re installed PN after i upgraded to windows 7, and didn't use a lot autocomplete because i had to configure my whole PN things again, but i believe it worked then. Now that i'd like to use it fully again, it simply does nothing, whatever i do :s.

Can you guys help me? I actually use the php scheme.

Hi, the files are definitely supposed to be in that schemes directory, and I've just double-confirmed that autocomplete works for me in PHP with both the complete after 2 chars option and the manual completion. What is the encoding in the API files you are trying to use (at the top of the .api file) and which language are you trying to use it in?

Try installing SP3 and remember to restart your computer. Oh, and be sure to check your version - I use 2.0.10.1010 not 2 0.10.10 (I guess you made a typo, but just to be sure...)

BTW, AFAIK api files are not needed in %APPDATA%\Echo Software\PN2\

Thanks for looking into this Nux.
I copied all the api files from that link into C:\Program Files\Programmer's Notepad\Schemes.
Autocomplete does not work.
I have also tried moving those api files into \\User\Application Data\Echo Software\PN2\

Still nothing....autocomplete is still not working for me.
