Hi there, thanks for the program first of all.

I just installed it and find a feature that auto-closes tags, like for instance typing a < and instantly getting a >. It is very useful

Sorry if this has been brought up before but couldn't find it.

Thanks.

Is there such an option?

Example:

function test ( $arg = 1 ) {

}

And then to have test appear in dropdown menu when starting to type its name, and to have a tooltip upon typing 'test(', just like it is for normal php functions?

Hi... I'm running PN 2.2.0.2240 on WinXP, SP3. Autocomplete has stopped working for local tags in my C files. The Options>>General>>Autocomplete settings are to Enable AutoComplete, Include Scheme Keywords (they work), and Include Tags after 3 characters. But none of my #defines, functions, etc. come through. And the Ctrl+Space shortcut doesn't help, either. Any ideas?

Hello!
I use PN 2.0.10.1010 - dizzy, and it helps me a lot. Thanks for the suitable editor.
But since I am new user, i don't know how to use many feautures.
So, my problem is that autocomplete and hints of function's arguments works only in the current file. Is it possible to use this features with all project's files?

My AutoComplete Settings:
Enable AutoComplete, include scheme keywords, include tags, autocomplete when asked, auto-close html/xml tags.
Functions of all project's files present in tags window.
I use C language.

Hello guys^^

I'm having troubles using autocomplete. It won't work, and i can't see how to fix it and why it can't work.
I re installed PN after i upgraded to windows 7, and didn't use a lot autocomplete because i had to configure my whole PN things again, but i believe it worked then. Now that i'd like to use it fully again, it simply does nothing, whatever i do :s.

Can you guys help me? I actually use the php scheme.

I've found a topic about Code templates where Simon mentions that they can be used with shortcut keys. So I created a template for HTML heading and name it "heading".

As instructed I write "h" and press "F4" - nothing happens. I write "he" - I get the list of HTML keywords (form AutoComplete). So I disable AutoComplete - nothing. Re enabled, and choose "when asked" - nothing.

Further more the list of shortcuts seems to be outdated or there are no shortcuts for AutoComplete and templates:
http://pnotepad.org/docs/navigation/keyboard_shortcuts

BTW a shortcut for "go to Text Clips" would be extremly usefull. I could do something like: ALT+C, I, ENTER - voilà and I have a HTML button :-). Currently I have to click a mouse on a Text clips sidebar to do that, but I could use something similar for other sidebars.

I've mentioned ALT+C, but maybe current keys (ALT+F6 to ALT+F10) could active sidebars not only show/hide them. Or CTRL+SHIFT+F7... could activate sidebards to avoid confusion (CTRL+SHIFT can be easily pressed with a thumb CTRL+ALT is more complicated).

Search/replace window: disable inline autocomplete? (jumpfroggy)

Every time I use the search/replace dialog, this bug keeps coming up. If I start typing something in either the "Find what" or "Replace with" fields, previous matches are automatically completed inline. This means that if I type "ma" it'll automatically complete this with "main()". I can keep typing, it simply matches whatever I type.

However, this causes problems when I just want to search for what I've typed. Often I'll hit Control+F for the Find dialog, then type "ma" and hit enter (wanting to search for "ma"), but it's automatically completed to "main()" and I search for that instead. I'd love to keep the drop down box of suggestions like it does currently, but I'd like to be able to turn off the *inline* autocomplete as it gets in the way quite often.

My suggestion is to put an option in "General->Dialogs" called "Disable inline auto-complete". It can stay defaulted to false to keep the current behavior, but at least then I could disable this if I wish.

One small note: sometimes the dialog inline autocompletes, sometimes it doesn't. It's hard to determine right now what causes this.

Hello Simon:
I made autocomplete work in PN!
I just added a couple of lines at:
textview.cpp
childfrm.cpp
jumpview.cpp

And appended some borrowed and adapted coded to:

ScintillaImpl.h
ScintillaImpl.cpp

It autocompletes with a list of keywords taken from the .schema file and with all tags you put in tags navigator. Also calltips are enabled. Still need to fix some details and bugs but it would be a major jump from v.2.0.7 to, maybe 2.1.0 !

If you want the files check your email!

Regards....

Hi again Simon:

Ok, I was reviewing Scintilla implementation for autocompleting, and actually it won't be that easy unless you change ScintillaImpl for ScintillaEx, which is found here:
http://anyedit.cvs.sourceforge.net/anyedit/AnyEditv2/ScintillaEx.cpp?view=markup
and:
http://anyedit.cvs.sourceforge.net/anyedit/AnyEditv2/ScintillaEx.h?view=markup
Then you can use
SetAutoCompletion(true);
in ctextview, which should derive from ScintillaEx instead ScintillaImpl.

The other option is adding ScintillaEx functions to ScintillaImpl, which I can try to do when I have some time, and tell you if it works.

Regards.

Hi, Simon:
Sorry for bothering about this, but those features missing in 2.0.7.610 like autocompletition and tags window improvements, will be available in 2.0.7 stable or should we wait for 2.0.8?
Thanks
