First let me say that I have only recently switched to pnotepad (from Notepad++) and I am very impressed: both by pnotepad and the forums.
And I have searched the forum on my queries.
My queries are I hope simple ones and mainly due to me setting up pnotepad for all my existing programs.
I am on 2.3.4.
1. I have created a number of projects (individual programs) under a Project Group but whenever I open pnotepad all the projects are shown with with their files uncollapsed (if thats the word) e.g.
Project
file 1
file 2
...
file n
This is after having collapsed them all before exiting.
As I have a lot of small projects (programs) I was hoping to include them in just a few project groups.
2. Is a similar query. Having selected all the files I want from a project I can open them all on a right click. I have set Use Maximised New Doument Windows and so I get tabs across the top. How do I close all the windows for the project in one go (a right click on a tab and Close All closes everything including all the projects and the project group).
Thats it.
I program in C using lcc as a compiler/linker driven now from pnotepad - if anyone wants help setting up such a system please ask.

i saw something similar when i compiled PN myself, but forgot to build the scintilla dll. The built PN exe gave me many error messages and a mostly not drawn window content. So you might miss files, e.g. the MS Visual C++ 2010 Redist package or other required DLLs.

In the image program is maximized and scintilla box is about 50% of width and 95% of height in the center of the screen. Window borders, scintilla and menu draws correctly. Everything else is not cleared on rendering. So these not drawn areas are on the left and right side of the scintilla box and where toolbar would be. If I enable toolbar from the menu the toolbar renders correctly.

I can't see anything in that PNG for some reason, so it's a bit difficult to work out what's going on.

Which version of Windows are you running and in which language?

If portable is working, then I guess there's some wrong file somewhere or some bad settings that are causing the problem. Portable stores its settings somewhere else.

I just updated to version 2.3.4.2350-charles and straight from opening the program it looks like this:
http://bantza.raah.fi/junk/pn2problem.png
The rainbow image in the background is to illustrate what area of the gui is not drawn. So in that area anything that the previous view had when changing to pn2 remains unchanged. Also scintilla box won't resize. Even when I change the window size the scintilla box remains the same size.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
I did install it over the old installation, but when the problems occurred I uninstalled it, deleted the folder and installed again with same results.
Portable version seems to be working correctly.

Ah, thanks. There's a known issue since "double-click on tabs for a new document" was added, where this functionality is also triggered on the tab-bar close/scroll buttons. Should hopefully fix this in 2.4.

Slightly odd question, but how are you closing the window? I've just checked and when I close the last window it leaves me with nothing, and I tried pretty much every way I can think of, but there must be something funny going on.

Sorry :-). You can check pn.exe properties and you should find the version on details tab.

Anyway you should be using 2.2.0.2240-ellington. I would reinstall PN if I were you.

Hi!

In the default configuration PN seems to incorrectly handle international characters. I expect there are settings which I could use to fix the problem, but I can't seem to find them. Could anyone please direct me to the right place, or, if these are real bugs, may I ask for a fix? Thank you.

Assume this sentence:
Kapitán se na nás povzbudivě usmál.
(It doesn't matter what it means, just that it has national characters in it.)

1. Cursor navigation using CTRL+leftarrow and CTRL+rightarrow considers the national character as word-breaks. If I start at the "K" at the beginning and keep pressing CTRL+right, I get stops at (marked with asterisk):
Kapit*á*n *se *na *n*á*s *povzbudiv*ě *usm*á*l*.
The proper sequence should be:
Kapitán *se *na *nás *povzbudivě *usmál*.

2. When using the \b in PCRE search, the accented characters are also considered word breaks. When searching for \bkapit\b, I get a match at the beginning of the sentence, but I shouldn't. When searching for \bkapitán\b, I do get a proper match, though. Another editor I use, which also uses the PCRE library, works correctly with both expressions (but as it lacks some features of PN, I need to use both the editors).

Thanks Nux, and this does sound like a bug. Added here:

It worked. Thank you.

Does anyone know why loading the default style doesn't pick a sensible color for the cursor? Is this supposed to happen, or is it a bug?

Maybe you've change the color of the cursor or something like that... Try changing Tools -> Fonts and Color -> Cursor Color (you may need to restart PN after changing this).

To start from scratch, after uninstalling PN, find you settings folder (e.g. search for "fortran.cscheme" file) and remove it. Then install PN again.

I am running Programmer's Notepad 2.2.0.2240 on Windows 7. Overall, I have liked it, but now the cursor is invisible. I have no easy way of telling where the text is going to go when I type. I can't remember any specific thing I did to trigger this behavior. It just started happening one day.

After some tinkering, I discovered that if I load certain preset styles, such as "Dark" or "Murky", I can see the cursor, but with the default style, the cursor is invisible. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I tried reinstalling PN and it didn't fix the problem.

And in fact, there is now a Pascal scheme update here which should fix the problem:

http://pnotepad.googlecode.com/files/pascal.scheme

Just copy this file into your PN\Schemes folder, and then go to Options|Styles, and press OK.
