I have tried minimizing/maximizing/restoring the tabs (internal windows) several times and in different order but with no avail... I only get the issue when maximized.

I have figured out what's happening while playing around with the windows. It seems that when a window is maximized, the main gray windows container (see it by restoring a window) is slightly shown on the right of the maximized window. That's why, if another restored window just happens to be in the tiny gap, it is shown when clicked on. Also, if you double-click on the gray area, the "Open File" dialog opens. (Try it by restoring all windows and double-clicking on the gray area behind them).

So I think the problem is simply that PN is leaving a small gap to the right of a maximized window, and that gap is a bit 'annoying'.

Solution: The gap is gone when opening any one of View -> Windows

I'm using PN 2 on Win7 for quite some time and haven't seen anything like that. Have you tried minimizing and maximizing a file window (those internal ones) that is in the main editor area? You could also try closing windows you have on the right of the main editor area and add them again.

I'm not sure if it's a bug in PN2, but when I have multiple tabs open, the right border of the white panel seems to reveal the "Open file" dialog and another tab. Check this screenshot:

http://img822.imageshack.us/i/60709993.png/

It's nothing serious but its very annoying when trying to scroll but accidentally clicking on the hidden tab, which would switch the current tab.

Using Win7. Anybody is facing a similar issue?

I've done a bit more experimenting.

If you use the new Windows 7 sizing features (e.g. Win+Shift+Up, Win+Left, Win+Right) that attach the window to some portion of the screen, then the window size is not stored in that state. It would appear that some new logic for remembering the size is required :(

Issue filed.

Are you using Windows 7? For me it doesn't remember any of the changes Windows does to it (i.e. dragging it to side to make it half screen). After stretching it manually all the way the size is remembered correctly.

Is there a way to make pnotepad remember the size that I resize it to? Every time I restart it goes back to the default and I like it to stretch from the top of the screen to the bottom.

thanks

I presume you're using PN 2 and have the default settings enabled so your UI configuration will be in the registry. Try deleting this key (usual disclaimers about backups and being careful with the registry apply):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Echo Software\PN2\Interface Settings\default

I'm having a problem where PN will only display maximized. I can't resize the window, only minimize it completely. I figured if I could delete the .ini and let PN regenerate it, it might fix this problem. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing PN. It's my favorite text/code editor, but I just can't use it like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PN2 is great but I'd love to be able to toggle into the text clip window. The less I have to touch my mouse the better.

Is this already possible and I'm just a dunderhead unable to find it?

Thanks for making a great text editor.

You can probably fix these things by removing the following registry key (make sure you know what you're doing!):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Echo Software\PN2\Interface Settings

Let me know if that doesn't fix it.

Hello. Suddenly there are some snarks appered in the Programmers Notepad.
The output window ceases to redraw itself, my compiler tools don't run properly etc.
I had uninstalled and then reinstalled the program but it didn't solve the problem probably because old settings were saved.
Is there the way to reinstall the program with the original settings?

You can try to double-click the "Projects" window title bar.

If that does not work, you can try to grab the title bar and drag the window to the left or right side of the main window's client area.
