SCM hooks would almost certainly be a larger job :) The reason PN didn't just host the explorer control originally is that it can be a slow beast and more complicated to customize and optimise than a natively written tree. I will be looking at the best way to support the SCM integration. You should already be able to use the Tortoise commands from the explorer menu integration, you just can't see the status icons.

There's an issue for tracking this:

http://code.google.com/p/pnotepad/issues/detail?id=154

I am almost certain that Notepad++ is hosting the actual explorer browser component, as does flexedit. I say so because you get the explorer menu etc.

I was wondering how diffficult / undesirable / ugly would be for PN to do this, thus taking advantage of tortoise hg and SVN or any other source control management shell extension? It is a rather nice feature, not least because you get a quick view of the cluster of files you are currently working on..

The other option would be to write SCM hooks from scratch into PN but I suspect that this would be a much larger job. Perhaps the icon bit natively and the connectors in Python?

There is an existing feature request to add this. It may be that Notepad++ is hosting the actual explorer browser component, which PN does not. I'll have to take a look.

Hi

Of all the scintilla based editors I find this one to be the best. One obstacle, however for me, is that I need to use the second explorer window as my file manager because I need to be able to see the overlay icons of Tortoise SVN and Toirtoise Mercurial.

Is there a reason why these icons don't show in the explorer tree? The browser component of both FlexEdit and Notepad++ display the icons fine..
