A site logo proposal + feature request

Hi,

i'm very pleased with pn2, even pspad or notepad++ can't beat pn2, so maybe he has more features... but in pn2 everything makes sense...

anyway, id like ask for some features & add some suggestions

- some porting of settings for portable mode
- please make the changing the size of tools window with more tolerance that 1px
- you could move the buttons for wraping & stuff on mail toolbar
- maybe add option for buttons on toolbar for external tools
- would be nice to have some tree of external tools - not language dependent
- maybe remove the logs/scripts/etc. window frames
- would look nicer if you could make the folding icons smaller
- and the folding like in vs2005 would be nice - looks nicer ;)

and now for the logo proposal, becouse the one that is now there is ugly as sin (no offense to the creator, but it's true) check them out here:

yeah, i remember:

- the right click + scroll to scroll throu tabs
- variables in tags for perl

ok, gotta go - here is 3:37 am... blah...

oh, and default expand tags tree for file, and for each file show only the file's tags...

ok, and there is a bug - if the line is too long, the scrollbar is too short... (i don't know if there was a bug report on that, and on 5:36 am i don't care - sorry)

Haven't had a chance to reply until now, but I'm more than happy to change the logo - I was never that happy with it in the first place!

Which is your favorite, I think I prefer either 2 or 3 - I'm not convinced on having the icon to the left of the text for some reason.

I like #2, though one change I'd make would be to angle the reflections diagonally, so they look like they're on the surface. Because of the font used, and because you can only see part of the letters, it almost looks like a different language at first (ie. Russian).

Also, maybe a compromise between blue and no color/gray. A real slight wash of green only on the right side?

But miechu, nice work!

Your site banner is now live! There are some minor changes I need to make, the new logo is shorter than the old one so that the right-hand gray banner doesn't look like it starts anywhere sensible now, and maybe you could have a go at jumpfroggy's comments and we could see what that looks like?

Feature request:
I just came across E-texteditor (http://e-texteditor.com/) and what I love about it is the Personal revision control system. I would love for PN to have such a feature.

And the new logo? Hmmmz... using MS Trebuchet with a reflection... very Web two point oh, but not very innovating and not very well executed btw.

Also, the new logo is better than the old one. Do you have a more innovative and better executed submission? I don't claim to be a designer, so all design discussion/contributions welcome - but please keep the feedback constructive!

Simon, I've added it to the sf tracker ;)

And for the feedback on the logo: yeah, I was a bit grumpy this morning, so my feedback might have been not so constructive.

I am a professional designer and I've done some design work on opensource projects in the past. Right now I'm swamped with work, but I would love to help out in the future, because I love PN (I use it everyday :) ).

i see that i've been too long away and many things was said and left without my response for what i'm sorry - i've got a lot on my mind right now (so do we all).

if i only knew what you have in mind that would be great... i've tried what you've proposed - with this green thing and it sux...

i'm a professional programmer and not a designer (i do that in my spare time), so cut me some slack... i'm not happy with how it looks - i can do better, but i've got code to write, and doing gfx @ 3 am sux, so if you can make it better or make one better, then go ahead, i don't mind... it looks better than the first one - it doesn't hurt your eyes, so it does the job for me ;)

ps. arogance is not welcome, belive me (i'm arrogant :p)

I tried doing what I suggested, and yeah... it stinks. What you've got up there now looks much better than the original, so it's an improvement at any rate. I may be able to be fine tuned later, but I really don't know how. But at any rate, looks good on the site.
