VHDL Scheme problem

Running PN v2.0.8.718
All of the keywords seem to be missing from the VHDL keyword list (under tools > options). I opened the vhdl.scheme and everything seemed to be in order. If I add any keywords to the .scheme nothing is added when PN is opened.

I looked in the application data at the vhdl.cscheme and it contained all the values in the tools > options menu.

The strangest part is that under the keywords (in tools > optoins) it has only one value 'net' which isn't even a keyword for vhdl.

I've deleted the .\echo software... directory and PN just recreates the same *.cscheme files

Any idea as to what's happening?

Do you also have a vhdl.schemedef file? If so, please delete it and then delete the .cscheme files and finally reload PN.

Otherwise, I'm not sure - we'll have to try something else.

Wow that was a fast reply! Thanks!

The only .schemedef file located in the .\scheme dir was powershell.schemedef. I deleted it along with the .cscheme files with the same result.

I don't know if this helps, but anytime I go to the tools>options->schemes->advanced The scheme in the drop down is Verilog when I have a .vhdl file loaded. If I open an .xml however, the drop down has XML.

Just seemed interesting that it is Verilog (maybe just cause they both have 'V' though?)

My workout atm was to cut/past all the keywords directly into the tool>options keyword textBox. All the other keyword-class items are fine.

It does seem strange that 'net' always shows up when a new .cscheme is created. Does any language use 'net' as a keyword? The find-in-files didn't show one listed in any of the .scheme files.

There's something very strange going on there. Can you please upload the content of your usersettings.xml file? It'll be in a directory like:

Vista: c:\users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Echo Software\PN2
XP: c:\documents and settings\[user]\Application Data\Echo Software\PN2

The verilog thing looks to just be a sorting problem, I've filed a bug for it. The VHDL scheme loads ok for me here and has lots of keywords in it, so I just can't see what's wrong.

I'm not sure if you wanted me to upload (not sure where to do this) or cut/paste. Here's the contents. The override (I assume) is the work around I mentioned earlier where I cut/paste the keywords from the .xml into the tools>options>scheme>advanced>keywords-textBox. If you would rather me upload the actual .xml let me know the best place to go ^^

It didn't occur to me until just now. I haven't used PN2 on my personal machine for a long while. I'll check and see if the same problem exists on that machine as well. I'll probably have to install PN2 for the first time since it has a fresh OS install.

I'd be interested to know if the problem goes away if you remove the usersettings.xml file and re-run PN. You'd then need to go into options->advanced and see if the keywords are back as they should be.

Also will be good to know if it works on your fresh install.

It appears the results are the same. Here's what I did.

deleted userSettings.xml: The keywords were not in options > advanced however the keywords were still be highlighted, I figured it was the vhdl.cscheme.

deleted the entire PN2 folder, and restarted PN2, the folder was recreated with no UserSettings.xml and the options > advanced was still incorrect.

Restored my old PN2 folder to restore the last state.

I'll post again with the results of my personal machine.

It turns out I did have PN2 v2.0.6.1-ella installed.

After installing the newest version, I had two VHDL entries in the tools>advanced drop down. I looked in the scheme folder and saw a vhdl.schemedef.

After deleting the .schemedef everything seemed to work properly. I even testing the vhdl.xml by putting adding a keyword and it updated the tools>advance keywords-textBox as expected. There must be something strange with my work computer.

I'll attempt to completely remove it from my work computer and reinstall to see if that changes anything. If not I can keep my work around as a fix, since it doesn't really change much, although I'd be happy to continue testing stuff if you feel it's a bug with PN2 and not due to this particular computer.
